Choosing the Right Fabric – A Dilemma for Fashion Wearers

Designing your new dress for a party wear or any other casual dress becomes hard when you do not know what fabric is supposed to be chosen as the best material that will not only give a better look with your design but also keep it safe and reliable. So, it is better to know more about the fabrics and sew your dresses with confidence

.
Weight of the Fabrics
Firstly, it is important to pay attention to the weight of the fabric suit. This is because it is a fact that thin fabrics will do better for tops and dresses while heavy fabrics will do better for jackets, skirts, and pants. By following this weight for your clothes, you will definitely get satisfied with their use and the dresses will become long lasting.
The fabrics according to their weights being ranked are:
  • The Top-weight fabrics – shirts, kameez, kurtis and other similar dresses
  • The Bottom-weight fabrics – jackets, skirts, and pants
The fabrics are not found with their weights being labeled this will be taken as your judgment.
Types of Fabric for Fashion Freaks
The fabrics are made with different fibers mostly it is a mixture of two or more different fibers, for instance, 50% cotton 50% polyester. The behavior of your dresses is dependent on their fiber’s content. This could also be taken as the reason that the fashion designers take their fabric choice seriously. Some of the fabrics that are usually proffered for designing and sewing the dresses are:

  • Cotton – Cotton is the coolest fabric of all. It is also an absorbent, and very comfortable. It is important to note that it shrinks at the time of its first wash, so it is better to shrink it before stitching your clothes. The fashion designers usually refer it for stitching t-shirts, jeans, shalwar kameez. Combed cotton is softer and better quality than regular cotton therefore designs your dress with it.
  • Rayon – This fabric is also called viscose. It has the same features as cotton for instance, wrinkles on this fabric are found mostly but easy to remove. This quality makes it with no trouble use and could be worn easily anytime and anywhere.
  • Nylon –This fabric is the major and strongest of all other fibers. Many fashionable women who want their clothes fitted to their beautiful physique wear it. It is not found comfortable mostly therefore not preferred normally.
  • Silk –Comfortable, absorbent and wrinkles all in one fiber especially when it is wet. But it is very thin so not comfortably worn. Needs to get dry cleaned every time. Dresses in this fabric are stylish and considered for party wears these days.
  • Wool –They are well worn in the winter, as they are warm, and dry. It doesn't wrinkle easily and not casually worn. This is probably found coarse and itchy, but high quality of wool is soft. Dry-cleaning works best.
  • Leather –It is very strong and worn in winter as a warm keeping cloth.
